The Foreign Affairs Society at SGH Warsaw School of Economics is an organisation uniting university students with an interest for international relations, the current political landscape and diplomacy. Our main objective is to deepen our understanding of current issues and to share that understanding objectively with our academic community. Our organisation was founded in 2000 under the Department of European Integration of SGH. Since then prof. Elżbieta Kawecka-Wyrzykowska has been our tutor. We have become one of the most active groups within the university. Among our members are students of economics, finance, law. We organise debates, study trips, film screenings and unique projects. We also assist our university during visits of foreign officials. Our projects: Action Diplomacy – a series of study visits in the embassies located in Warsaw for essay contest winners. The cycle ends with an official celebration for participants and diplomats, Fraud&Crime Conference – a conference prepared in cooperation with Students’ Business Club that tackles the issue of fraud and crime from the economic and international perspective, Young Diplomats Autumn School – lectures concerning modern diplomacy, etiquette and work at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Participants chosen through a recruitment process receive certificates, World on Screen – screenings of independent films throughout the academic year focusing on global modern day problems, Global Mondays – open debates on current topics, a platform for the exchange of questions and opinions between students and experts. Human Rights Week – the most recent SKN SZ’s project organized in cooperation with Amnesty International, which aim is to increase awareness about violation of human rights around the world.
