The Foreign Affairs Society at SGH Warsaw School of Economics is an organisation uniting university students with an interest for international relations, the current political landscape and diplomacy. Our main objective is to deepen our understanding of current issues and to share that understanding objectively with our academic community. Our organisation was founded in 2000 under the Department of European Integration of SGH. Since then prof. Elżbieta Kawecka-Wyrzykowska has been our tutor. We have become one of the most active groups within the university. Among our members are students of economics, finance and law. We organise debates, study trips and unique projects. We also assist our university during visits of foreign officials. Our projects: Action Diplomacy – a series of study visits in the embassies located in Warsaw dedicated to discussion about current affairs of each country, its culture or career in diplomacy.The cycle ends with an official celebration for participants and diplomats, Polish-German Economic Forum – two-part conference about polish-german economic and political cooperation held at SGH and University of Cologne, POLMUN – the oldest Model United Nations in Poland, each participant takes role of an UN country delegate and takes insight into world of diplomacy, politics and world problems. Young Diplomats Autumn School – lectures concerning modern diplomacy, etiquette and work at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Participants chosen through a recruitment process receive certificates, Global Mondays – open debates on current topics, a platform for the exchange of questions and opinions between students and experts. Human Rights Week - project organized in cooperation with Amnesty International and Ombudsman Bureau, which aim is to increase awareness about violation of human rights around the world, International Picnic – most recent project of SKN SZ realised with cooperation of many embassies and our University, where students can meet with diplomatic staff at SGH, take part in discussion or try national cuisine.
